"Hymns of Paradise: Hymns of Life and Hope" is the second recording of Byzantine chant in English by Fr. Apostolos. It contains the hymnology of the funeral service according to the practice of the Greek Orthodox Church in North America. This recording includes all the hymns of the service, including that of St. Isaac of Syria (With the souls of Thy servants give rest...) and the eight tone cycle of St. John of Damascus. Wonderfully presented, along with the Epistle and Gospel reading, the recording sets forth both the beauty of the service and the theological expectation of "returning to Paradise" in Christ. The CD includes a 24-page liner booklet that provides a description of the origin and development of the service, all hymn texts in English and notes by the Fr. Apostolos on the project.
