Description
The second of three discs, this offers Tenebrae for Good Friday (sometimes sung on Thursday evening). The format is the same as the first disc, filled out this time with two hymns and two responsories that belong to the season. This group of chants includes Tenebrae factae sunt, the most renowned of all the Tenebrae responsories. The two hymns, Vexilla regis and Pange lingua?lauream, are among the most impressive of all chant hymns. Other two discs in this series: Christ in Gethsemane - Maundy Thursday: The Office of Tenebrae & the Ceremony of Foot-washing and He Was Placed in the Tomb: The Great Offices for Holy Saturday .
ReviewBy: Fr. Jerome Weber
These three Tenebrae discs form a set that is unsurpassed on records. They are among the most significant of all the Solesmes recordings.
