Description
The third recording by Adolphe Attia of Jewish liturgical chant focuses on chant taken from the morning prayer and form the Psalms. They are chanted in monody but accompanied by organ, and recorded in a clear and resonant fashion that makes one feel present in the synagogue as they are chanted. Includes liner notes and complete hymn text in French and English.
ReviewBy: Benjamin Williams
This recording is particularly engaging, not the least because it includes the daily chant selections from morning prayer and from the Psalms. They are resonant and accessible, speaking to us of the requirements of the faithful life and of communion with God. Once again, the organ accompaniment offers a pleasant counterpoint to the chant, and does not detract. It is uplifting and encouraging while providing a good example of contemporary synagogue chant.
